In a series of tweets spread over three days, the makers of 'Thalapathy 64' have been revealing the cast of Vijay’s new film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The latest to join 'Thalapathy 64' is actor Malavika Mohanan who made her Tamil debut in Rajinikanth’s Petta. Earlier on Wednesday, it was revealed that actor Shanthanu too will be a part of the film.

Malavika, who hails from Kerala and grew up in Mumbai, is the daughter of popular Malayalam cinematographer KU Mohanan. The actor made her debut in the 2013 film Pattam Pole starring with Dulquer Salmaan.

Her role in Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds that came out in 2017 won her critical acclaim. There are unverified reports of the actor being roped in for Vijay Deverakonda’s next film titled Hero, helmed by Anand Annamalai of Kakka Muttai fame.

So far, 'Thalapathy 64' is going strong with its casting. Vijay Sethupathi and Antony Varghese of Angamaly Diaries have been brought on board. Antony Varghese, who won several awards, including Filmfare Awards South, for his first film, also has Aanapparambile Worldcup with director Nikhil Premraj in the pipeline. He is also a part of critically acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malayalam movie, Jallikattu.

Vijay Sethupathi, on the other hand, has nearly half a dozen projects currently in different stages of production, including a Bollywood offering from Aamir Khan.

While the rest of the cast is yet to be confirmed for Thalapathy 64, the team has said that Anirudh Ravichander will compose its music, Sathyan Sooryan will crank the camera and Philomin Raj will take care of the editing.

Vijay currently awaits the release of Bigil by director Atlee. The film, which is gearing up for release this Deepavali, sees him playing the role of a football coach of a women’s team. The film, which has been produced by AGS Entertainment, was officially launched last November in Chennai.
