The makers of Aashiq Abu’s Mayaanadhi are planning to re-release the film again in a few theatres in Kerala. The decision was arrived at after netizens online began discussing the film on various social forums. Mostly, film buffs regretted missing this film at the theatres when it was first screened following which the filmmakers are contemplating on re-releasing at select centers.

Directed by Aashiq Abu, Mayaanadhi has Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the lead pair.

The film had made it to the theatres on 22nd December last year to positive reviews. The well-written story line and outstanding performances of its lead cast, Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi, became a key factor in the film turning out to be a success. It survived at the theatres for 125 days following word of mouth reviews though the initial response was not overwhelming.

The film, which was scripted by Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothen, dealt with romance and crime in equal doses. The technical crew of the film comprised Rex Vijayan for music, Jayesh Mohan for camera and Saiju Sreedharan for editing. It was bankrolled jointly by the film’s director Aashiq Abu and Santhosh T. Kuruvilla under the banners Dream Mill Cinemas and Entertainments and Moonshot Entertainment.

It may be mentioned here that Mayaanadhi is all set to be remade in Hindi following its massive success in Mollywood. The film will be bankrolled in Hindi by Santhosh T Kuruvilla, Aashiq Abu and Sachin Pilgaonkar while Jo Rajan will be the director. The team is scouting for a suitable hero to reprise the role done by Tovino Thomas as Mathan in the original. More details about the cast and crew are awaited.
