There are reports circulating in the Kannada film industry that director Mahesh Rao of Santhu Straight Forward fame may be directing Abhishek Ambareesh’s next film. Though Santhu Straight Forward was released about three years ago, the director has not come up any other offering till now. And now reports are surfacing that Mahesh is directing Abhishek. The new project is expected to go on the floors soon after the elections are over.

It may be noted here that Abhishek’s debut movie Amar is yet to hit the silver screens. Directed by Nagashekar, Abhishek plays a biker in the film, which is bankrolled under the banner Sandesh Productions by Sandesh Nagaraj, who was a friend of the late Ambareesh.

Both the lead actors in the film, Abhishek and Tanya Hope, appear to be motorsport enthusiasts and the crux of the story will revolve around that. It may be recalled here that they underwent training in motorsports before the shooting began to fit into the characters they play.

The trailer of the film was released along with the Darshan starrer Yajamana. Interestingly, the makers of Amar have confirmed that Darshan will be playing a small role in the film. Scenes involving Darshan, including a song sequence, were shot for period of three days in various locations in and around Bengaluru. According to sources, Darshan’s character in Amar will be crucial and will bring about the turning point in the story. Major portions of the second half have been shot in Switzerland, while the rest have been shot locally. The hit number ‘Olavina Udugore Kodalenu... Rakuthade Baradenu Ida Nannu’ from Ambareesh’s 1987 film Olavina Udugore is being recreated and was shot in picturesque locations in Switzerland.

Reports indicate that the makers of Amar are planning it to be a summer release and are working towards this deadline.
