Simbu and filmmaker Sundar C have joined hands for the first time in upcoming Tamil film Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, which is the remake of Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi. The film’s shoot is currently underway in Hyderabad and earlier this week Simbu had a special guest on the sets when Mahesh Babu made a surprise visit.

Apparently, Mahesh and Simbu were shooting next to each other’s location and the former decided to meet the Manmadhan actor and exchange pleasantries. Pictures from the casual meet where Simbu and Mahesh are seen having a conversation have been doing the rounds since Tuesday on social media. Simbu’s fans event went on to wish that it’d be really nice to see both the stars join hands for a project.

Released in 2013, Attarintiki Daredi is the last known blockbuster in Pawan Kalyan’s career. The story follows a grandson, played by Kalyan, who promises to his grandfather to help him reconcile his relationship with his estranged daughter. Soon after the release of the film, rumours made the rounds that Vijay might star in the film’s remake. However, the project has taken off with Simbu, Megha Akash and Catherine Tresa in the titular roles. The team recently completed a scheduled in Georgia where they shot Simbu’s introduction scenes and song. The project, being bankrolled by Lyca Productions, is gearing up for Pongal 2019 release.

Last seen in a full-length role in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Simbu is currently getting ready to commence shooting for Venkat Prabhu’s political thriller Manaadu. He recently played a cameo in Jyotika’s Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu. In the original, Simbu’s role was played by Ayushmann Khurrana. There are also rumours that Simbu might team up with Mani Ratnam for another project; however, it is too early to put a final word.
