Going by the reports doing the rounds in Tollywood, Mahesh Babu and director Shekar Kammula may team up for a film and it could be a sequel to Leader.

Incidentally, Leader, which had Rana Daggubati playing the lead role, turned out to be a dud at the box office, but the TRPs of a private satellite channel goes up whenever it is telecast on the small screen.

According to sources, director Shekar Kammula is almost done with penning the script for Leader 2 and is waiting for Mahesh Babu’s approval. In fact, the director reportedly had Mahesh Babu in mind when working on the script and the actor is expected to give his go ahead.

It may be noted here that director Shekar Kammula had wanted to cast Mahesh Babu in the recently released Fidaa but the actor couldn’t sign on the deal due to his prior commitments.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is busy with Bharath Ane Nenu which is slated to hit the silver screens for Sankranti. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film has Kiara Advani playing the female lead and R Sarath Kumar in a pivotal role.

Soon after wrapping up this film, Mahesh Babu also has a Vamsi Paidipally directorial and SS Rajamouli directorial which will take off next year.

Leader, which hit the silver screens in 2010, marked the debut of Rana Daggubati as hero. The film had Priya Anand and Richa Gangopadhyay playing the female leads with Suhasini Maniratnam in an important role.

This political drama was produced by M Saravanan, MS Guhan, Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan under the banner AVM Productions.
