Veteran director Mahendran’s performance as a villain in Vijay’s Theri won him a lot of accolades which has prompted him to consider taking up challenging roles. He had now landed a role in the Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer that is being helmed by the National Award-winning director Priyadarshan. According to sources close to the film unit, Mahendran will be playing Udhayanidhi’s dad in the movie and his role will be completely different from what we got to see in Theri. The shooting of this film is already in progress with the actor – director joining the sets in Tenkasi

To be title yet, the film has Parvathy Nair playing Udhayanidhi’s lead pair and the star cast also includes another actor – director Samuthirakani in a pivotal role. Interestingly, this film is touted to be the remake of the Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaaram. The film, which was the directorial debut of Dileesh Pothan, had Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali playing the lead pair with Anusree, Alencier Ley Lopez and Soubin Shahir also included in the star cast.

Written by Syam Pushkaran, this comedy drama is all about the hero, who gets knocked down by a group of guys in a tussle and vows not to wear slippers until he avenges the humiliation.

Udhayanidhi made his debut as a hero with the movie Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and has acted in a number of films since then. His last release was Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen and he has two more movies - Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam and Ippadai Vellum – lined up for release.

With the shooting of the untitled Priyan – Udhayanidhi film on, the title is expected to be revealed soon. Meanwhile, the actor – producer is gearing up for the release of PEMT this month.
