It was revealed much earlier that R Madhavan will be playing the scientist Nambi Narayanan in the upcoming multilingual Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Releasing his look in the film, Madhavan wrote on his social media account, “@NambiNa69586681 So very tough to get to where you are sir, even merely look look-wise .. But doing my very very best ..@rocketryfilm @Tricolourfilm @vijaymoolan.”

The star has undergone a thorough transformation for the role of scientist Nambi Narayanan.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is being directed jointly by Anant Mahadevan and R Madhavan and it marks the latter’s debut as a director. Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Anant Mahadevan had said, “I heard about the ISRO spy case and how Nambi Narayanan, who was charged with espionage, fought to prove his innocence. When I met this gentleman, I learned the whole story behind his life. Unfortunately, it was the spy case that brought him to limelight whereas he should have been known for a much better reason.”

R Madhavan is playing the role of the scientist Narayanan Nambi in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Releasing videos in Hindi, English and Tamil on Instagram much earlier about why he chose to play the role, Madhavan had told in the video: “There are many stories in this world. Some you may have heard, while the others wouldn’t have reached your ears at all. However, there are some stories, which you must know because not knowing equals to your disinterest about our country. Nambi Narayanan - if you hear his story, see his achievements, you will be compelled to talk about it. Rocketry - The Nambi Effect, people who do not know about this will learn, people who think they know about this will be impressed.”

The film is progressing at a good pace and is likely to have its theatrical release next year.
