Madhavan, who is co-directing Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is currently busy hunting for locations. Releasing a picture taken in Georgia, the actor – turned director had posted on Twitter: “It's cold with minus six degrees and we have long night shoot to happen here.” Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is being directed jointly by Anant Mahadevan and R Madhavan and it marks the latter’s debut as a director. The film will be bankrolled by Tricolour Films in association with Vijay Moolan Talkies and Saffron Ganesha Entertainment.

Maddy will be appearing as the rocket scientist Nambi Narayanan in the film and has grown long locks of hair and a beard to fit the role. And that is not all! He had revealed that it takes 14 hours to transform himself into the character he plays. Releasing a video of this transformation earlier, he captioned it, “When getting in the character take 2 years and getting the look in place take 14 hrs on the chair (sic).” Well, with the amount of hard work he is putting in, Madhavan is sure to get deep into the skin of the character!

Nambi Narayanan was a rocket scientist at ISRO. He was accused of espionage in 1994 and was arrested by the CBI. However, it was proved in 1998 that he was innocent following which the Kerala government settled the case with a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Anant Mahadevan had said earlier, “I heard about the ISRO spy case and how Nambi Narayanan, who was charged with espionage, fought to prove his innocence. When I met this gentleman, I learned the whole story behind his life. Unfortunately, it was the spy case that brought him to limelight whereas he should have been known for a much better reason.”
