The News Minute | February 23, 2015 | 09.20 am IST The pearl dress that actress Lupita Nyong'o flaunted at the Oscars red carpet has reportedly been returned to the hotel from where it was stolen for being studded with "fake pearls".The thieves dumped the actress's custom Calvin Klein Oscar dress, which was stolen from her hotel room two days ago, in a garbage bag and it was returned to The London West Hollywood Friday, reports tmz.com."A guy called us at around 2:30 p.m. Friday and said he had taken the dress from Lupita's hotel room after he noticed the door was ajar," said a source. The anonymous caller said that after stealing the gown, he and other thieves removed several of the 6,000 Akoya pearls (rumoured to be worth approximately $150,000) from the dress, and had them appraised by jewellery experts in the Los Angeles garment district, who determined the pearls to be fake.
