The News Minute | January 3, 2015 | 8:00 am ISTAn explosion in Sivaganga was averted after a low intensity pipe bomb was defused at Gandhi Nagar outside a TASMAC shop on Thursday. The owner of the shop, Muthuramalingam found the unclaimed bag, grew suspicious of it and informed the police, reported The New Indian Express. Once it was determined by the police that the bag contained an explosive device, a bomb squad was called in to defuse it , said the report. SP Ashwin Kotnis who first examined the bomb said that the pipe was filled with low intensive explosive material. However, the structure of the bomb was similar to to those found and defused in Madurai in the past, he said according to the report.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
