The News Minute | December 1, 2014 | 03:33 pm IST Filing a complaint with the police for lost or missing documents or SIM card is likely to become a hassle free process, thanks to a recent initiative of the Bengaluru Police. Now, a complaint can be filed online, without having to go to a police station, following which the complainant will receive an acknowledgement (police intimation report) immediately, states a report by The New Indian Express. All one would need to do is fill in 'details of the lost item, venue, area and city and you can get a police report within minutes'. The initiative can be replicated in other districts depending on its efficacy. One can also search for the lost items on the Bengaluru city police website. “What we have done is to register all the police stations and some malls on the website. When something is found, we update it on the website and people can look for lost items here. If they are lucky, they may even be able to find it,” B Dayanand, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), who manages the website, told The New Indian Express. The online service, which is said to have originated in Delhi, also extends to getting a police verification report for jobs or visa verification.
