You can call it a smart band, but it basically falls in the category of a wearable with almost all functions a digital fitness tracker does. The Lenovo Smart Band HW01 is the first of its kind has been launched by Lenovo in India. The ‘band’ nomenclature fits the device since it does appear a narrow band with a display size of just 0.91inch. The display type is OLED and it displays time, the heart rate of the wearer and so on.
The ‘Sports Mode’ feature
The Lenovo Smart Band HW01 has a feature ‘Sports Mode’ which can monitor your heart rate at 15 minute intervals and if the heart rate crosses a particular threshold, it will produce a vibration.
There is also an anti-sleep mode in this Smart Band that alerts you through vibrations if you over sleep or if you doze off while driving and so on. If you have a regular sleep schedule and you programme the device, it will vibrate and wake you up when you over-sleep. Similarly, if you work night shifts and tend to doze off, the Lenovo Smart Band HW01 will vibrate and alert you.
The Smart Band can also be paired with an Android or iOS device and receive alerts when you receive calls or messages or mails on your parent device. Notifications on social media sites like Facebook or WhatsApp as well.
In addition, the Lenovo Smart Band HW01 can also be used to take photos and make adjustments to the music being played from the paired smartphone.
The Smart Band’s strap is made of Silicone and the device is quite light at just 22 grams. The phone has an IP 65 certification for being water resistant.
It is only in terms of the 85mAh battery on the Lenovo Smart Band HW 01 that the analysts have some reservations since it lasts only around five days. This is considered too short against a wearable device like Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 selling around the same price levels and can last a whole of 30 days on a single charge.
