Just a Facebook post and overnight she became the talk of the town. A day after supporting a college protest that organized a beef fest against the Dadri lynching, a university lecturer of the Sree Kerala Varma College in Thrissur stuck to her guns and told media on Wednesday that she firmly stands by her opinion.

Deepa Nisanth, a lecturer working with the Malayalam department wrote in the Facebook post that if people wanted action to be taken against those teachers who supported the beef fest, her name should be right on top of the list.

She told media through the post, which was removed by her later, that she has not tried to criticize the college but she wrote it against some of the political stands nationally.

She also said in the explanation given to the college principal that it was painful that her post was misinterpreted by some.

Meanwhile a huge number of people including CPI (M) leaders Pinarayi Vijayan, Thomas Isaac MLA and film maker Aashiq Abu have extended their support to Deepa over social media.

“Communalists cannot decide what students of Kerala Varma college should eat,” Pinarayi wrote in his Facebook wall.

“The powerful opinion of Deepa Nisanth made college management seek action against her. This shows that management is lenient towards the sang parivar politics,” Thomas Isaac wrote.

Kochi Devaswom Board that runs the college had earlier reportedly initiated an enquiry against Deepa after her post went viral.
