Sun Pictures has released yet another poster of Rajinikanth and Simran from their upcoming film, Petta. The poster was tweeted from their official handle on Sunday.

While an earlier poster showed the two in a crowded street with flower pots in their hands, this one shows them walking down a deserted, wooded pathway. Both Rajini and Simran are seen looking at each other with a smile.

Petta was recently certified UA by CBFC. Bankrolled by Sun Pictures Kalanithi Maran, the film is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Megha Akash, Bobby Simha and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the tunes for this gangster film with Tirru cranking the camera and Vivek Harshan being in charge of editing. The rest of the technical crew includes Peter Hein for stunt choreography, Suresh Selvarajan for production designing, Kunal Rajan for sound design, Niharika Khan and Praveen Raja as costume designers, and Baba Bhaskar and Sheriff for dance choreography.

Previously, Trisha’s character, who will also be paired opposite Rajinikanth in the film, was revealed. Seen dressed in a traditional red and blue silk saree with flowers and glass bangles, the actor plays Saro, possibly Rajinikanth’s wife during his days in the village.

Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui play the villains Jithu and Singaar Singh respectively. Actor Sasikumar will be playing the role of Maalik, a friend of Rajini's in the film.

Sharing that Petta is a story that was inspired by, performed by and dedicated to Rajinikanth, Karthik Subbaraj said that his dream of making one film with the Superstar looked bleak especially after the star announced his entry into politics. “I had narrated the story to him in 2015 but it had to wait since he went on to do Kaala and then later announced his political entry. I kept thinking my life would remain incomplete if I never got the chance to work with him,” he said during the film’s audio launch.

Petta is slated to hit the screens for Pongal 2019.
