KSRTC bus rams into vehicle in Kerala CM’s convoy, 4 police officers injured

According to eye-witnesses the collision happened as the speeding bus tried to overtake another vehicle on the highway.

Four police officers on patrol duty for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan were injured after their car collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation super-fast bus at Panaveli, near Kottarakara, on Tuesday

The police officers were stationed on the highway to clear the way for the CM's car to pass through MC Road in Kottarakara, according to reports. The CM was reportedly traveling to Kottayam. 

According to eye-witnesses, the collision happened as the bus tried to overtake another vehicle, but crashed head-on with the patrol car, a ToI report stated. Witnesses also claimed that the bus was speeding.

The accident occurred at 3.45 pm and the officers were rushed to a private hospital in Kottarakara.

The injured officers have been identified as grade sub-inspector Rashid from Puthur Police Station, ASI Anil from Ezhukone Station, Vidya Raj, a woman constable from Kottarakara Police Station and driver Pramod from the Armed Reserve Police Camp in Kollam, reports claimed.

According to a TNIE report, while the woman civil police officer was referred to the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, the other three officers were admitted to a private hospital. The condition of all the four officers is stable now, said an officer with the Kottarakara traffic police.

The impact of the collision also left the blue and white patrol van also completely damaged. The van, which was part of the CM’s convoy, decided to go pilot, said a TNIE report.

According to reports, none in the bus, which was going from Perinthalmanna to Thiruvananthapuram, sustained injuries from the accident. 

 Top officials from Kochi also visited the officers at the hospital. The Kottarakara police have registered a case against the KSRTC super-fast bus.
