The News Minute | August 12, 2014 | 10.48 am IST The Karnataka High Court has asked the state government to ascertain how much sandalwood it can supply to the Krishna Mutt in Udupi district. Hearing a petition by the Mutt, the High Court said that the state government would have to furnish a figure to the court in the next hearing, according to a report by Kannada Prabha. In the past, the state government annually supplied 1,087 kg of sandalwood to the Mutt, but it had stopped supply. But when the Mutt approached the High Court in 2008, questioning the cessation of supply, the state government provided 200 kg, but even that had been stopped. The Mutt has asked the High Court to direct the state government to supply sandalwood as it is facing a severe shortage.
