As the Kerala Crime Branch has custody of Jolly Joseph for only one more day before she is handed over to the Kozhikode district jail, the investigation is on at a brisk pace.

On Tuesday, Rojo Thomas, Jolly’s brother-in-law who gave the complaint that exposed the alleged serial murders, arrived at the Kozhikode Rural SP office in Vadakara to give his statement. He resides in the US.

Rojo is the son of Annamma and Tom Thomas — Jolly’s in-laws who she is believed to have murdered. He is also the brother of Roy Thomas, Jolly's former husband, who she allegedly poisoned. He landed in Kerala specifically for the case and the ongoing investigation. He arrived at the Nedumbassery International Airport on Monday morning and headed to his sister Renju’s house in Vaikom, Ernakulam.

At 10 am on Tuesday, Rojo arrived with his sister Renju, and nephews Romo and Ronald — Roy and Jolly’s sons — at the SP office in Vadakara to give their statements. Rojo, who had also independently investigated Jolly after suspecting her hand in the deaths, will offer his findings to the investigating team.

Meanwhile, Jolly’s current husband Shaju and his father Zacharias were questioned by the police for over 10 hours on Monday. The Special Investigation Team let them off in the evening, following protracted interrogations. Shaju was also questioned along with Jolly on Monday.

Additionally, the police also took 47-year old Jolly to several places including the Ponnamattam house —  where 3 of the 6 deaths had taken place. Here, the police reportedly found a tiny bottle with a white substance, which they suspect to be cyanide. The evidence was retrieved from Jolly’s bedroom and the police are testing the substance.

Jolly is the prime suspect in the alleged murders of six people in her family over 14 years. Jolly is believed to have mixed cyanide in the food consumed by the deceased members, who passed away and presented eerily similar symptoms. Among the six alleged murders believed to have been committed by Jolly is that of Shaju’s former wife Cily and their 2-year-old daughter Alphine. Both of them also died similarly, with seizures, apnea and foaming in the mouth.

The police have so far attested Jolly, Mathew and Praji Kumar. Mathew and Praji Kumar are accused of supplying cyanide to Jolly.
