Kerala Circle Inspector (CI) VS Navas, who went missing two days ago, was found in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district.

The CI’s disappearance sparked a controversy after the police officer’s wife alleged that he was under stress and that his superior officer forced him to lodge a fake case. Navas went missing early on Thursday after having a spat with the superior officer the previous night over the phone.

“Officials of the special investigation team from Kochi and police officials from Palakkad district are on their way to Karur. We have no other information so far,” an official of the special branch in Kochi told TNM. Navas is with the Karur police.

According to reports, CI Navas was recognised by the Tamil Nadu railway police when he was travelling on Saturday morning. Officials there confirmed that it was Navas and relayed the information to the Kerala police. Reports also state that Navas talked to his family over the phone following this.

Speculations were rife about Navas having a ruckus with a superior officer, and Navas’s wife also alleged the same while speaking to the media. Furthermore, she said that he was constantly under ‘mental pressure’ because of some senior officers. She also said that when she last met him, minutes before he went missing, Navas seemed very upset and had told her about the spat with the senior officer over the phone.

On Thursday morning, Navas sent a message to his wife stating that he was leaving, and that was the last communication he had with his family. Soon, there were CCTV visuals of the officer drawing money from an ATM near his house in Thevara on Thursday.

The Kochi Police Commissioner had formed a special team to find the missing police officer.
