It has been confirmed that debut director Guru Ramachandran will direct Vetri of 8 Thottakkal and Jiivi fame in the upcoming thriller. Ramachandra Raju, who played the villain in the hit movie KGF, has been roped in to play the baddie in this film.  It may be noted that the actor is set to make his Tamil debut with Karthi's upcoming film directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna.

The shooting of this film went on the floors recently with Bhagyaraj giving the first clap and is progressing well with plans to complete it in one single schedule. The team will be shooting the film predominantly in and around Chennai. The others in the star cast also include debutante Diyaa Mayurikha, Marimuthu, and Kabali-fame Vishvanth.

On the film, director Guru said in an interview with the Cinema Express, “It will be an action thriller with enough elements to call it a commercial film. But it will also have an underlying message. We have spoken about something that has not been addressed yet in Tamil cinema.”

The film is being bankrolled by J Parthasarrathy under his JN Cinemas banner. Murugesh Babu, whose strong dialogues were the mainstay in the national award-winning film Joker, directed by Raju Murugan, has also been brought on board for dialogues.

Vetri’s last film release was Jiivi, which was a thriller directed by V. J. Gopinath and written by Babu Tamizh. The film was jointly produced by M. Vellapandian, Sudalaikan Vellapandian and Subramanian Vellapandian. While Vetri played the lead role, the star cast also included Karunakaran, Monica Chinnakotla, Rohini, Ashwini Chandrashekar and Mime Gopi. K. S. Sundaramurthy worked on the music. Praveen Kumar handled the cinematography for this venture with Praveen doing the edits. The art work was done by Vairabalan. S, production controlling by Nagarajan, executive production by Vivin S. R., and line production by I. B. Karthikeyan.
