KGF: Chapter 1 was one of the biggest hits in Sandalwood recently and now the team is working on the sequel. Incidentally, a sizeable portion of the sequel was shot when KGF: Chapter 1 was being shot and team is currently canning the remaining portions. According to reports, director Prashanth Neel is busy scouting locations for the sequel in Kolar. Prashanth Neel, along with cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar, were in Kolar to fix the locations for the shooting recently, confirm sources in the know. Huge sets will be erected in the selected locations in March end and the shooting will commence in April, we hear.

KGF: Chapter 1 was directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Vijay Kiragandur produced the project under his banner Hombale Films. The film has Yash playing the lead role and paired up opposite him is Srinidhi Shetty as the heroine. The rest of the star cast included Achyuth Kumar, Malavika Avinash, Nassar, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha. The technical team comprised music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar.

There was a buzz that Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt may be roped in to play an important role in Chapter 2. However, we hear that the talks are still in the initial stages and nothing has been finalised yet.

KGF: Chapter 1, which hit the marquee in December last year, was released in five languages simultaneously – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. With the film’s massive success, Yash instantly became a star with a pan Indian appeal. The film was distributed by some of the most high-profile distributors in the film industry. In Tamil, the distribution rights were lapped up by Vishal’s Vishal Film Factory and the Malayalam version was distributed by Global United Media. The Hindi version was distributed by Farhan Akthar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment jointly with Anil Thadani’s AA Films.
