The incident allegedly happened on the night of December 21, when all others in the hostel had gone for a vacation.
“As per the child’s statements on that day, the priest stripped him and molested him in the dormitory when everyone else was out. When the child went to his house in Kottayam on December 23, he narrated the incident to his brother. Later when their mother reached home, she was informed about it and she complained to the police,” said an officer from Kunnathunad police station seeking anonymity.
The officer also said that the accused told the boy that he would sleep with him since the child was alone in the dormitory.
The priest joined this school which is run by a private charitable trust, after retiring from a government-aided school. The trust is not under any religious group. His wife, a retired college professor is settled in Australia along with their son.
The priest has denied the sexual allegations against him. “He has agreed that he spent the night with the child but he denied the charges,” the officer said.
