An MLA has come out with a serious allegation against Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the abduction and rape of a prominent Kerala actor. In a letter to the Chief Minister, PT Thomas, the legislator from Thrikkakara constituency - where the crime took place - has claimed that Sunil Kumar, aka Pulsar Suni, is a member of a human trafficking gang.

“I have got reliable information that Suni went abroad using a fake passport and that he is a part of a human trafficking gang. I have given a letter to the Chief Minister with all the details I have in the case,” Thomas told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.

He added: “More information will be provided depending the progress of probe. It needs just an hour for the police to find out that whether he had gone abroad using fake passport.”

Later in an interview to a Malayalam channel, Thomas claimed he suspected that the DGP, Loknath Behra, was trying to manipulate the investigation.

“Suni hasn’t conceived the crime alone, there is someone behind Suni, but I can’t say that he is from the film industry. The police has to trace that. It could be to prevent the accused from disclosing some hard truths that the police had forcefully arrested him at the court before he could surrender, or the police had acted in collusion with him,” Thomas alleged.

Criticising the police for serious lapses in the initial phase of investigation, Thomas asked why they hadn’t immediately informed Ernakulam range IGP Vijayan about the abduction.

Thomas had met the survivor at Producer Lal’s house, along with another producer, Anto Joseph, on the night of the incident. Following the meeting, the MLA revealed that the accused had told the actor that they were contract criminals. They reportedly threatened her that If she did not “cooperate”, they would take her to an apartment in the city and harass her along with several other people, the MLA said.
