A scuffle between a Kothamangalam resident and some miscreants in Cherai beach in Kochi on Wednesday resulted in the accidental discharge of the former's revolver.

The Times of India reports that the incident happened when the man was at the beach along with his family.

According to the report, the family was relaxing on the beach, when a group of miscreants approached the family, alleging public obscenity while they were changing clothes at the beach.

Verbal feud soon turned into a fist fight, resulting in the revolver slipping out from the man's pocket.

"The revolver slipped out of his pocket, and it went off when he tried to pick it up. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the man did not have any intention to cause harm and we are convinced that it was an accident," Munambam CI Arun told The News Minute.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The police said that the miscreants fled the spot when the revolver went off.

The man, who owned a licence for the revolver, filed a complaint against the miscreants for moral policing and physical assault.
