A 21-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with the Kerala State Women Commission seeking action against her husband who divorced her by sending a triple-talaq message over WhatsApp.

The woman, who is a BDS student, received the talaq message one month after her marriage. The groom had left for Dubai 10 days after the marriage and did not communicate with her for next three weeks, until he sent the talaq message.

Overcoming the initial shock, the young woman lodged a complaint at the women's commission's adalat in Pala, Kottayam on Monday.

According to The Times of India report the commission has now ordered the department of non-resident Keralites' affairs to find her husband, a 27-year-old from Vaikom.

“He has conveyed that he does not wish to live with her. He said she was like an apple and he had already tasted it. So he did not want her anymore,” commission member J Prameela Devi told TOI

Reportedly, the in-laws of the girl also showed little interest in the issue and she was asked to leave their house few days ago.

“The girl's father had died around four years ago. Her mother conducted the marriage and gave a dowry of Rs 10 lakh in cash and 80 sovereigns of gold,” the women's panel member said.

The commission also reportedly directed the Vaikom circle inspector to present the man's parents during the next commission adalat.
