Declaring as a proud achievement for Kerala’s public education system, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the number of students who have enrolled in government schools this year has increased considerably and it is the highest in the last 10 years.

The CM said that full credit for this achievement goes to parents and teachers who tried to enhance the standards by improving the infrastructure and other facilities of the schools. He also congratulated the public for extending support to the government in achieving its goals.

“I congratulate the parents who realised the change in public education system and admitted their children into government schools, and the teachers who tried hard to increase the standard of the schools. The support from parents and the public is an encouragement for government,” the CM wrote on Facebook on Sunday.

As per the data, there was an increase of 12,198 students this year in government schools.

“5,703 students have increased in government schools and 6,495 students in government-aided schools. This is just the data of first standard. In fifth standard, 40,385 students and in eighth standard, 30,083 students have increased compared to last year. In the last 10 years, this is the first time the public education system has witnessed a huge increase in number of students,” the CM wrote.

As per reports, Thrissur district has secured highest number of students who joined government schools.

The data has been collected by the new software, IT@school, introduced by Kerala state education department. A web portal ‘Sampoorna’ was launched last week by the department to coordinate all the details from government schools across the district.
