Kerala Floods: Rail services slowly restart, list of trains that remain cancelled

The decision to resume traffic between Ernakulam-Shoranur and Shoranur-Ernakulam will be reviewed after 4 pm on Sunday.

Train traffic has resumed in some areas that were affected by the floods in Kerala. In a press release on Sunday, Southern Railway said that services have been partially resumed between Ernakulam-Kottayam-Kayamkulam from 6 am on Sunday.

“Special trains are operated under suitable speed restrictions as required. Also, train traffic between Trivandrum-Ernakulam (via Alleppey) and Trivandrum-Tirunelveli (via Nagercoil) are operated under suitable speed restrictions as required,” stated the press bulletin.

Adding that the railway personnel have been continuously working to restore various flood affected sections, despite rough weather conditions, various portions of railway line between Palghat-Shoranur, Tirur-Feroke, Kozhikode-Feroke, Pallipuram-Kuttipuram sections were certified fit for traffic on Saturday. They also said that the section between Kuttippuram-Tirur-Kuttippuram has been certified fit for traffic on Sunday with a speed restriction of 20 Kmph.

Train No.16526 KSR Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express of 19th August is diverted to run via Erode, Dindigul, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil and Trivandrum

The statement also said that the decision to resume traffic between Ernakulam-Shoranur and Shoranur-Ernakulam will be reviewed after 4 pm on Sunday.
