Despite the BJP opening its account in Kerala for the first time ever and claiming a significant achievement in the assembly elections, differences between party members have come out into the open.

The Times of India reports that Kerala BJP’s national executive committee member Shobha Surendran has approached the central leadership with a request to initiate action against her fellow partymen for contributing to her defeat.

As per the report, Shobha has alleged that party state secretary C Krishnakumar played a key role in her defeat in Palakkad and that the constituency had a strong BJP vote bank and had won in the municipal elections.

The report also says that Krishnakumar, who was a candidate in Malampuzha, took most of the BJP workers in Palakkad for his campaigning. There was also a controversy that he inaugurated the election committee, which was supposed to be inaugurated by Shobha.

Meanwhile, reports say that BJP former state president P S Sreedharan Pillai, who was a candidate in Chengannur also has come out against the party alleging that none of the senior leaders or Union ministers campaigned for him.

“We lost the seat by a few thousands of votes. We could have crossed that margin if there was
support from the leadership,” he told ToI.
