Popular film producer KE Gnanavel Raja has filed a complaint against actor Kamal Haasan at the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) accusing the actor of not repaying Rs 10 crore which he had borrowed at the time of Uttama Villain’s release in 2015.

According to the complaint filed by Gnanavel Raja, Kamal Haasan approached him for Rs 10 crores as he was facing a financial crunch during Uttama Villain’s release, which he had produced on first copy basis for N Lingusamy’s Thirrupathi Brothers. As per the agreement entered into by KE Gnanavel Raja, Kamal Haasan agreed to work in a movie produced by the former’s production house. However, the project never took off even after four years, which has prompted the producer to file a complaint.

A source close to the TFPC has confirmed receiving the complaint. Further action on it expected soon. It may be noted here that Uttama Villain, a comedy drama, was directed by Ramesh Aravind and written by Kamal Haasan. The film was presented by N Lingusamy in association with Kamal Haasan and produced by S Chandrahasan for Raaj Kamal Films International and N.Subash Chandrabose for Thirrupathi Brothers Film Media.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is busy with the Shankar directorial Indian 2. The film’s technical crew includes Anirudh Ravichander for music, A Sreekar Prasad for editing and R Rathnavelu for cinematography. The film is produced by A Subhashkaran under his banner Lyca Productions on a budget of Rs 200 crores. The crew after wrapping a schedule in Chennai moved to Rajahmundry where the film is being currently shot.

Indian 2, also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Siddharth and marks the reunion of Shankar and Kamal Haasan after two decades. Actors Samuthirakani and Vivek also essay crucial roles in the film.
