TRS leaders and cadres descended at Telangana Bhavan in large numbers for the launch of the national party ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’ on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. While MPs, MLAs and MLCs were all in attendance, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha was conspicuously missing in action.

Earlier in the day, Kalvakuntla Kavitha had tweeted about the puja at her home on the occasion of Dasara. Not only did she skip the launch of the national party, but till the publishing of this story, she hadn’t tweeted regarding the launch of the national party.

The BJP meanwhile claimed that fissures had surfaced within KCR’s family, even before the national party had taken off. NV Subhash, BJP spokesperson pointed at the Delhi liquor controversy as one of the reasons why Kavitha skipped the event. “Having her name embroiled in the Delhi liquor controversy, probably CM KCR felt that her presence would dampen the prospects of the national party. It is also likely that Kavitha was expecting a bigger role in the national party,” Subhash said. He was referring to the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into money laundering and irregularities during the implementation of the now-discontinued Delhi Excise Policy. While BJP leaders alleged Kavitha’s involvement in the scam, she denied it and even filed a defamation suit against some of the BJP leaders.

“Forget Kavitha, TRS friendly parties like the CPI and CPI(M) did not bother to attend the national party’s launch. This just shows that the BRS doesn’t enjoy the support from even their ‘friendly parties.’ With this situation in the state, what can KCR really do in the country?” questioned NV Subhash.

When TNM reached out to AIMIM to inquire about Asaduddin Owaisi’s absence at the launch, his office conveyed that the Hyderabad MP was abroad on a personal visit. Owaisi, however, took to Twitter to congratulate CM KCR on the launch of the national party.

TNM tried to reach out to MLC Kavitha and her office for an official clarification on her absence but did not get any response. This article will be updated if there is a response by the MLC.
