The News Minute | December 4, 2014 | 9:30 am ISTTelangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to perform the Ayutha Chandi Yaga, a mega ritual that involves 1000 priests praying nonstop for 10 days. The event is expected to be held next February at KCR’s farmhouse in Gajewel.According to mythology, the yaga used to be performed by ancient rulers to overpower their enemies. It believed to bestow the one performing it with invincible powers, a report in the Times of India adds.KCR has roped in senior priests from various places including priests from Sringeri in Karnataka, who are well known experts in performing the Chandi Yaga. The priests will chant 700 mantras 10,000 times and make offerings though 100 sacrificial fire pits to Goddess Durga. Sources maintained that the reason for this ritual is not for personal gains but for the prosperity of the newly formed state of Telangana. The report also adds that former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Deve Gowda and Rajiv Gandhi had also performed the ritual when they faced political turbulence.
