The teaser of the upcoming Kannada release Kavaludaari will be launched in the US. The filmmakers are planning a grand event to tap the overseas market for the film. It is certainly a good promotional move, say trade sources. The teaser launch will be launched on September 2 in Dallas, Texas during the AKKA Samelaana that is scheduled there.
Set in the 1970s, Kavaludaari is an investigative noir film that is about a couple who were involved in a crime, the repercussions of which are felt even today. Written and directed by Hemanth M Rao, Kavaludaari is bankrolled by Puneeth Rajkumar’s wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under the banner PRK Productions. Its star cast includes Anant Nag, Rishi, Suman Ranganathan, Achyuth Kumar, Roshni Prakash, Siddharth Maadhyamika and Siri Ravikumar.
While Anant Nag will be seen as a retired police inspector, Rishi plays a sub-inspector. Charan Raj is the music composer of this flick and Advaitha Gurumurthy is the cinematographer.
Speaking about the film, Hemanth M Rao was quoted by the Times of India as stating, “Mr and Mrs Naidu's story is set in the 70s. Mr Naidu works for the government. They are involved in a crime where the repercussions are felt to this date. This is the case that is being investigated by the characters essayed by Rishi and Ananth (Nag) sir. We wanted to create an authentic look and flavour of that era, for which we scoured through many of the team's family albums to understand the dressing and fashion styles.”
The film was slated to release in May this year but was postponed due to various reasons.
