DMK President Karunanidhi will continue to be hospitalised, states the latest bulletin released by Kauvery Hospitalon Tuesday.

The bulletin reads, “Although there has been a resolution of the condition which led to his hospital admission, an extended period of hospitalisation will be necessary due to age related overall decline in his general health, altered liver function and haematological parameters.”

The hospital also stated that his vital signs are stable with active medical support.

Karunanidhi was admitted in Kauvery Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday, after his blood pressure dropped. He was resuscitated in the hospital and his condition was made stable. He continues to receive treatment from a team of expert doctors in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

While the 94-year-old leader’s health deteriorated on Sunday evening, with a bulletin issued by Kauvery Hospital stating that there was a ‘transient setback’, it was normalised with constant medical support through the course of the day.

Scores of DMK supporters continue to stand vigil in front of Kauvery Hospital since he was admitted, with many raising slogans for their leader to get well soon. They also undertook group prayers in the nearby temples and shaved their heads praying for karunanidhi’s wellbeing.

Political leaders from across the spectrum have been visiting the leader in the hospital since Friday to enquire about Karunanidhi’s health. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, TN Governor Banwarilal Purohit and TN Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami were among the leaders who visited Karunanidhi in person to enquire about his health. Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited the hospital on Tuesday evening and met Karunanidhi in the ICU. Later, he spoke to the reporters and said that Karunanidhi was a fighter and that he is doing fine.

Actor-Politician Rajinikanth is expected to call on Karunanidhi at the hospital on Thursday night.
