The trailer for actor Karthi’s Kadaikutty Singam directed by Pandiraj was released on June 3. This film is Karthi’s first time collaboration with his brother Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.

It was earlier announced that Karthi would be playing the role of a farmer in this film and as a testimony to the fact, the trailer pans through lush green rice fields and has the breezy charm of a rustic rural life.

The trailer also has a good number of punch dialogues - “One who creates alone isn’t god. One who sows seeds is also god”, “Each person gets intoxicated by something. My addiction is only my family”, and the very well translated “Shall we crucify them? To nail them down we need to go hammer and tongs.”

From the trailer, we can tell that the film will be a family entertainer. Sayyesshaa Sehgal and Priya Bhavanishankar are playing the female leads. The film also marks the first time collaboration of Karthi and Pandiraj.

The film, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu as Chinnababu will be jointly produced by Miryala Ravinder Reddy with Suriya's 2D entertainment.

Karthi was last seen playing a cop in Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. On his role in Kadaikutty Singam, in an interview to Deccan Chronicle , Karthi said that he wanted to inspire younger generation to take up farming and go back to their roots.

The film ran into trouble with the filming of a rekla race sequence earlier this year. In February, the producers had applied for permission to shoot a rekla (bullock cart race) sequence with the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). The AWBI denied permission for the shoot, which involves 211 cows and oxen, 48 cocks and 32 avians, citing that the Supreme Court has banned the sport. However, in March, Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) changed its decision and went on to approve the film, much to the surprise of many.
