Karthi starrer Kadai Kutty Singam released to good reviews but its Telugu version Chinna Babu seems to be not picking well in the Telugu states. The film’s dubbed version in Telugu was released along with Kadai Kutty Singam considering the huge fan following its lead star Karthi has in Andhra and Telangana states. However, reports from the trade circles are that the film has had a slow start due to insufficient promos. The collections on the first day are average but it is expected to pick up over the weekend.

The film has collected around Rs 1 crore share in both the Telugu speaking states – Andhra and Telangana.

A comedy drama, the film has been directed by the award winning director Pandiraj and bankrolled by Karthi’s brother and actor Suriya under his banner 2D Entertainments. Karthi plays the titular role in Chinna Babu with Sayyesha as his love interest.

The star cast also includes Sathyaraj, Sayyeshaa, Arthana Binu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Soori, Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Saroja, Saravanan and Ilavarasu.

D Imman had composed music for this venture with Velraj wielding the camera and Ruben editing it.

Though a few of Karthi’s films have been dubbed in Telugu earlier, he made his debut in Tollywood with Oopiri in 2016 which went on to become a huge hit. Directed by Vamsi Paidapally, the film  was based on Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano's French comedy-drama The Intouchables.

Karthi shared the screen space with Nagarjuna in it which was a bilingual which released in Tamil as well. The film was produced by Prasad V Potluri under his banner PVP Cinemas.
