Karthi is basking in glory over the success of his Diwali release Kaithi doing well at the box office. The film clashed at the BO with the Vijay starrer Bigil.

Kaithi’s success has upped the expectation levels for Karthi’s next, which will be a Jeethu Joseph directorial. The untitled film also has Karthi’s real life sister-in-law Jyothika in the star cast. This is the first time they are sharing the screen space in a feature film.

While all details about this untitled film is being kept a secret, Karthi opened up about it while promoting the Telugu version of Kaithi. He was quoted by India Today as saying, “My next is a family thriller, which is directed by Jeethu Joseph of Drishyam fame. My sister-in-law Jyothika is playing my sister while Sathyaraj sir will be seen as my father in the film. The shooting of the film has been wrapped up as well. It's a very interesting film which has flavours of Drishyam. It's a performance-oriented film with a lot of humour. My character in the film is like Seenu from Oopiri (Thozha).”

When the shooting of this film began, Karthi wrote on his social media page that he was thrilled to work with his sister-in-law and looked forward to work with the acclaimed director Jeethu Joseph. Sathyaraj also plays a pivotal role in the film, he revealed.

Besides this film, Karthi has also signed on the dotted lines to play a role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan. The director has roped in a bevy of stars including Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh and others to play the main characters in the film. Elango Kumaravel will be co-writing the adaptation along with Mani Ratnam. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman will compose the music.
