The Karnataka Pre-University Certification (PUC) exam results for 2018 have been declared by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board’s (KSEEB) Department of Pre-University Board Examination. The average pass percentage for this year stands at 59.56%, nearly 7% higher than last year’s 52.38%.

The results have been announced earlier this year due to the upcoming elections.

Dakshina Kannada district has reportedly recorded the highest pass percentage (91.49%), followed by Udupi (90.67%), while Chikkodi and Bidar districts recorded the lowest pass percentages.

As always, girls have performed better than boys. While 67.10% of the girls who attempted the exam have passed, the pass percentage for boys is only 52.30%.

On the other hand, rural and urban areas have shown very similar performance, with the rural areas showing slightly better results. While rural Karnataka recorded a pass percentage of 59.95%, the urban areas have recorded 59.45%.

The highest marks scored were 597 out of 600 in the science stream, and 595 out of 600 in the arts and commerce stream. While a total of 4,08,421 students have reportedly passed the exam, 2,13,611 students have passed in first class and 54,692 students have passed with distinction.

According to reports, nearly 7 lakh students appeared for the Karnataka PUC examination that took place in March 2018.

Students can check the results on karresults.nic.inpuc.kar.nic.inkseeb.kar.nic.in and results.nic.in. The last date for re-verification is May 7.

C Shika, Director of the Pre-University Education (PUE) department, said that supplementary exams for those who didn’t clear the main exams will be held between June 8 and 20.

The results will be published in colleges on May 1. Students have been told that the online results are for immediate reference only and cannot be treated as original mark sheets. The mark sheets will be issued later by the KSEEB.
