Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seems to have taken a detour from politics to acting. A report by the Deccan Herald state that the Karnataka CM is all set to act in a bilingual movie directed by Kavitha Lankesh.

Siddaramaiah will be playing a cameo in ‘Summer Holidays’, a children’s film starring Kavitha’s daughter Esha (13) and nephew Samarjith (16) as the lead actors.

With this movie, Siddaramaiah will become the first Chief Minister to have acted in a film while in office, News 18 reported.

Shooting for the CM’s scene in the film is tentatively fixed for Thursday.

Actors Prakash Rai and Suman Nagarkar will also be playing key roles in the adventure movie featuring five children and a dog called Bheema.

Siddaramaiah will essentially be playing the character of the CM and will appear in a scene in which the child actors go to meet the Karnataka Chief Minister.

The film tracks a fun journey and about 80% of the movie has been shot in Chikkamagaluru’s Koppa area and Bengaluru.

“When we were kids, we saw films like Nagarahole and Simhada Mari Sainya. Of late, children’s films are being made only for awards and subsidies. There are so few realistic children’s films. Everyone said we would get recommendation letters from politicians in power. But there wasn’t a single such letter from Siddaramaiah. His only condition was that there be no violence in the film,” Kavitha Lankesh told media persons.

Apart from Kannada, the movie will also be made in English as many kids prefer to watch English language films these days, the report added.

Surprisingly, the Chief Minister, while speaking to News 18, said that he had acted in plays during his college days and that he enjoyed it. “Kavitha Lankesh had requested me several times and I finally had to relent,” Siddaramaiah added.
