A Kannada film junior artiste was found dead near a construction site in Avalahalli, Yelahanka, under surreptitious circumstances on Monday evening, a report by Times of India states.

The victim, who was found near a construction site, was identified as Padmavati. The 44-year-old artiste was working for the remake of a Tamil film, Vele Illa Pattadhari, a report by the New Indian Express states.

Police said that Padmavathi was a resident of Jakkur and the film crew was shooting at a location in Rajanakunte, which is past Yelahanka, TNIE report stated.

Around 120 crew members were present for the shoot and they wrapped up work by 5.30 pm. A headcount was done right before the junior artistes were to be paid and the crew members discovered that Padmavathi was missing. Her body was later found at the construction site which belongs to the Prestige group, the TNIE report added.

The day’s shoot was set up at an apartment site on the ground floor, while a few junior artistes were filming on the first floor of the site. Padmavathi was present at the shooting spot until the shot was filmed, however, no one noticed that she went missing after that, the TNIE report adds.

Padmavathi’s body was taken to the Yelahanka government hospital for postmortem. Police said that they received information that she was missing only at 9 pm and tried to contact the director, who was unavailable, the report adds. The body was shifted to Yelahanka government hospital for post mortem. An artiste, who is a friend of Padmavathi said, “The last time I saw her was at around 3pm.”

Padmavathi’s family members said that the crew informed them of the situation very late. The family was asked to go to the hospital, however, they did not find anyone up on arriving and later visited the spot where Padmavathi was found. To their dismay, the film crew had packed up and left, the report adds.

The film is directed by Nandakishore and stars Manoranjan, son of actor V Ravichandran.

On November 7 2016, tragedy struck the crew of the film ‘Masti Gudi’. During the shoot, actor Duniya Vijay and two other actors, Uday and Anil, jumped from a helicopter into the Thippagonanahalli reservoir. While Vijay was rescued, the two others had drowned.
