Kannada superstar, Shivrajkumar’s Tagaru finally hit the silver screens on February 23rd after being postponed on a couple of occasions. The film opened to good reviews and is doing well at the theatres. Earlier, speaking at a press meet as part of the film’s promotions, Shiv Rajkumar lauded his Bollywood counterpart Akshay Kumar for selecting different genres of films. At the press meet, he said "He (Akshay Kumar) started as an action hero and now he has transformed himself into one of the finest actors. Look at his films Toilet Ek Prem Katha or Padman. I personally had the opportunity to work in all kinds of genres. I worked in films like Jogi and even tried ones like Ammarava Ganda and Anna Thangi, and have been part of novel-based films. I have worked in action as well as family entertainers. Only if I act in all genres, I will feel complete as an actor.”
Tagaru, an action-cop thriller, has Shivrjakumar in the cop avatar with Manvitha and Bhavana playing the leading ladies and Dhananjay in an important role. Produced by KP Srikanth under the banner Venus Entertainers, the film also has Vasishta N. Simha and Devaraj in the star cast. It may be noted here that the star and director are collaborating for the second time after the release of Kaddipudi in 2013.
Charan Raj has composed music for this venture with Mahendra Simha cranking the camera and Deepu S Kumar doing the editing. The film has been directed by Duniya Soori and this is his second association with the hero after Kaddipudi.
With Tagaru hitting the marquee, Shivrajkumar is expecting the release of The Villain soon, in which he shares the screen space with Kiccha Sudeep. He also has Kavacha and SRK lined up for release this year.
