Kangana Ranaut's 'Thalaivi' goes on floors

The film will be written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who has also penned 'Baahubali' and 'Manikarnika', and also has Arvind Swamy on board.

Kangana Ranaut has started shooting for biopic of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa and the project will be directed by AL Vijay. Titled Thalaivi, the film went on floors on Monday.

Producer of the film Vishnu Induri, tweeted, “Journey of #Thalaivi starts today. Being filmed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu #Thalaivi stars #KanganaRanaut and #ArvindSwamy. #DirectorVijay @KanganaTeam @ShaaileshRSingh #VijayendraPrasad @rajatsaroraa @BrindaPrasad1 @neeta_lulla @VishalVittal @MNigotre (sic).”

The actor has gone skin deep for her character and she received trained in classical Indian dance form Bharatnatyam. She was also recently camped in Los Angeles for the look test and pictures of the star went viral on Twitter.

The film will be written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who has also penned Baahubali and Manikarnika, and also has Arvind Swamy on board who would be seen playing the role of former Tamil Nadu CM and legendary star MGR.

There are also reports doing the rounds that actors such as Jagapathi Babu, Jayasudha and Sathyaraj will be playing crucial roles. To be shot and released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi the film is being bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh under the banners of Vibri & Karma Media and Entertainment.

GV Prakash has been roped in to compose music and Nirav Shah will crank the camera.

It may be noted that J Deepa niece of Jayalalithaa had filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court for a permanent injunction restraining film director AL Vijay and from making a biopic and on acclaimed director Gautham Menon from making a web series based on her aunt’s life. The case came before Justice K Kalyanasundaram on Tuesday and he has deferred his verdict after hearing arguments.
