Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan had hosted the television reality show Bigg Boss Tamil last year and it went on to become a big success. Aired on Star Vijay between July 25 and September 30, the show did have its share of controversies and faced some brickbats, but Kamal being the confident host managed it all.

With the successful completion of Season 1, there were huge expectations for the second season. Also, there were speculations that Kamal may not host the show again as he is busy with his acting and political assignments. Earlier, there were reports that either Suriya or Arvind Swamy were in the fray, but now it looks like Kamal is getting back on the show. The makers of Bigg Boss Season 2 have reportedly begun shooting the promo with Kamal at a location in Chennai.

An official word about this season’s contestants is expected soon. The show is likely to be telecast from the first or second week of June.

The first season of Bigg Boss was aired between 9.00 and 10.30 pm on weekdays and between 8.30 and 10 pm during weekends. The contestants were housed in a grand house erected for the purpose at the EVP theme park in Chennai. The show concluded with actor Aarav emerging the winner and walking away with the cash prize of Rs 50 lakh and lyricist Snehan as the runner-up.

The show originally had 15 contestants – Sri, Anuya Bhagvath, Vaiyapuri, Gayathri Raghuram, Bharani, Raiza Wilson, Snehan, Oviya, Harathi Ganesh, Aarav, Ganja Karuppu, Maria Juliana, Ganesh Venkatraman, Shakthi and Namitha, and the wild card entrants were Bindu Madhavi, Suja Varunee, Harish Kalyan and Kaajal Pasupathi.

With the first season gaining immense popularity, audiences can hardly wait to know more about the next season.

Kamal Haasan has two films – Vishwaroopam II and Sabash Naidu – in different stages of production. The long delayed sequel to Vishwaroopam recently received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification.

Meanwhile, director Shankar has announced that the shooting of Indian 2, the sequel to the hit movie Indian starring Kamal, will begin soon. The pre-production, rumoured to be made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, began from February this year.

The star is busy with his political assignments as well after the launch of his political party a few months ago.
