Actor Kamal Haasan, in the midst of the frenzy associated with his debut in politics, announced on Saturday that he will be producing a new film. However, the veteran star won’t be acting in it – his daughter, Akshara Haasan will play the lead along with Vikram.

His tweet also says the project will be a joint collaboration between Trident Arts and Kamal’s production banner, Raajkamal Films International.

It will be directed by Rajesh M Selva. According to a recent Times of India report, the film will be a remake of a French flick. The team had originally planned to announce this project on January 1, but since Vikram's father passed away on December 31, they had put off the announcement as a mark of respect to the actor. The regular shooting is expected to commence soon.

Rajesh and Kamal have collaborated several times before – Kamal acted in his Vishwaroopam, Uthama Villain and his latest, Thoonga Vanam. The director also tweeted about the upcoming project, thanking Kamal for the opportunity.

From his mentions, we can infer that sound designer Kunal Rajan and music director Jibraan are also a part of the project. Akshara Haasan was last seen in Ajith’s Vivegam that came out in 2017. This film will be her second Tamil film.

Currently busy wrapping up Saamy Square, in which he returns as the foul-mouthed cop, Vikram will also finish the leftover portion of Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram, in which he plays a secret agent out for revenge. Vikram is expected to commence shooting for Selva’s project from summer this year and will hope to wrap up by year-end. If everything goes as planned, Vikram might have three releases this year.
