Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Lissy, is going places as she's signed her second Tamil in a span of just two months. After being signed opposite Sivakarthikeyan in her debut Tamil film Hero, Kalyani will be paired with Simbu in Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu, which is slated to go on the floors very soon. On Friday, producer Suresh Kamatchi took to Twitter and wrote: "Proud and happy that the stage in Maanaadu will be graced having Kalyani Priyadarshan pairing with STR."

Kalyani, who is thrilled to be part of the project, wrote on her Twitter page: "Can't wait to bring that amazing script to life."

It’s worth mentioning that Prabhu has been planning to work with Simbu for a long time. He said in an interview to Firstpost, "It’s a long-pending project. We have been talking about a possible collaboration for a long time now. STR suddenly called me one day, and I narrated the outline of the script and his character. STR liked the idea and gave his nod. The movie will be a different experience for STR. His fans will find his character exciting.”

It’s been nearly 8 months since it was first announced that Prabhu and Simbu will join hands for a project and since then there’s been no major development. Rumours had made the rounds that Manaadu will go on the floors from October 2018; but for reasons unknown the project never took off. However, producer Suresh Kamatchi took to Twitter earlier this month to put to rest all the rumours about the filmThe makers released a first-look poster last year that read, “Stand for what is right even if it means standing alone.”

Apparently, Simbu is currently in London where he has gone to shed weight for his role in the film. It is believed that shoot will begin as soon he returns from his trip. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised shortly.
