Are you tired of the (unpleasant) shocks 2016 still keeps throwing at you? Well, here's another one. Remember Suresh Kalmadi, the accused in the 2010 Commonwealth games scam? He's now the honorary lifetime president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
The decision was taken at IOA's general body meeting on Tuesday when a member proposed Kalmadi's and former president of the Boxing Federation of India Abhay Singh Chautala's names for the honorary positions. They were endorsed unanimously.
And though Kalmadi and Chautala will not enjoy voting powers, social media exploded with reactions as the news broke. While some posted reactions with the hashtag #KalmadiReturns, others called it the "death of sports".
Take a look at some of the reactions.
#KalmadiReturns...Kal aajj aur kal Kalmadi rahega ....Today it is death of Sports

Super. Suresh Kalmadi & Abhay Singh Chautala to be lifetime presidents of IOA. Beyond saying "we're shocked", is govt going to do anything?

Kalmadi is appointed President of the IOA. I'd go on a hunger strike if Ramesh Powar isn't appointed as captain of the Indian cricket team

The "Khiladi of scams" indeed.
On twitter #khiladireturns is trending. In political circles #kalmadireturns is trending. Kalmadi is indeed Khiladi of scams.

Some demanded that the Supreme Court intervene.
If SC is genuinely worried about sports in India, it should take up Kalmadi thing on its own and question IOA. Or does SC likes only cricket
— Venkata Krishna B (@twittvenkat) December 27, 2016
People (Suresh Kalmadi and Chautala) who deserved life imprisonment have been elected as life presidents by IOA. Shame. SC must intervene.

CWG scam accused Suresh Kalmadi made Indian Olympic Association (IOA) honorary life President.

KRK as PM... it's a scary thought even though he's being sarcastic.
If Suresh Kalmadi is Indian Olympic Association's lifetime president then I should be PM of India for next 50 years.
