Kalidas Jayaram is on a signing spree with a quite a number of films in his kitty. He has movies with filmmakers Jeethu Joseph, Alphonse Puthran, Midhun Manuel Thomas and Santhosh Sivan in the pipeline needing his attention. His jam-packed schedule has made him opt out of Aashiq Abu’s Virus, reports sources.

Virus is based on the deadly Nipah virus that broke out in Kerala some months ago to which 17 people succumbed.

The film has an impressive lineup of stars in the cast including Tovino Thomas, Parvathy, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Remya Nambeesan and Revathy.

Reports are that Kalidas has moved out of the project citing date issues. The young actor would be teaming up with the maverick director Jeethu Joseph. That project has officially started with its muhurat happening in Ernakulam recently.

Kalidas has reportedly been replaced by Sreenath Bhasi. It may be noted here that Sreenath has bagged a role in quite a few Aashiq Abu films.

While the star cast is already impressive, the director has also roped in Fahadh Faasil to play a cameo role in it. The scripting for Virus is done by Mushin Parari, Suhas and Sharfu. Cinematographer Rajeev Ravi will be cranking the camera for this venture with Sushin Shyam composing the tunes and editor Saiju Sreedharan taking charge at the editing table. The movie is set to go on floors in December and will hit the marquee for Vishu next April.

Aashiq Abu has earlier told TNM that Revathy will be seen playing the Kerala Health Minister in Virus while Tovino Thomas will be portraying the role of the Kozhikode district collector. Rima Kallingal will be seen as nurse Lini Puthussery who lost her life contracting the virus while treating one of the first patients affected with the virus.
