The widely popular Malayalam number 'Jimikki Kammal' so far has had several cover versions. People can now get ready to see Jyothika’s version of the song in her upcoming film Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu.

The makers made the announcement via a statement. Apparently, the official song rights were bought and the song has been used at a crucial juncture in the Radha Mohan directorial. The sequence featuring Jyothika and Lakshmi Manchu was shot just a few days ago.

“I needed a popular song which would have an instant connect with the south, and the first one that came to my mind was 'Jimikki Kammal'. The sequence has Jyothika, who plays an RJ, celebrating her success by breaking into a dance as the song plays from a recorder. She is joined by her colleagues played by Lakshmi Manchu, Sandra, Sindhu Shyam, and Kumaravel. The song has been choreographed by Viji,” Radha Mohan was quoted by Deccan Chronicle.

Kaatrin Mozhi, which was wrapped up a few days ago, has been confirmed to hit the screens on October 18. On the last day of her shoot with the team, Jyotika surprised everyone by gifting silk sarees, silk dhotis (veshti) and shirts to all the crew members. She also presented a special gift to all assistant directors for their fantastic work.

The entire crew was delighted with her kind gesture. During the cake cutting event on July 25 night, Jyotika mentioned excitedly that this was the best team she has worked with in her career and thanked everyone for their tremendous work.

Apparently, Mohan and Jyothika have been planning to work together for quite some time and both felt Tumhari Sulu, which struck gold at the box-office, would be the best option. In this film, Vidya plays a hard-working homemaker, who works as an RJ on a late night show.

National award-winning editor KL Praveen and cinematographer Mahesh Muthusamy have been roped in for the remake, which also stars Vidharth and Lakshmi Manchu in crucial roles. While Vidharth will be seen playing Jyothika’s husband, Lakshmi will reprise Neha Dhupia’s role from the original.
