An RTI activist has lodged a police complaint in Bengaluru asking the police to identify the person who allegedly offered a bribe to Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Subhro Kamal Mukherjee.
Activist Jayakumar Hiremath in his complaint asked the police to identify the person, reported The Hindu.
Citing the matter as “sub judice”, the police reportedly refused to file a complaint.
It was reported that a Bangla-speaking person had come to Mukherjee’s official residence on July 4. He sought a “favourable order” to the petitioner Umrah Develper and its proprietor Yusuf Shariff in the case by “offering certain favour” in return, reported Bangalore Mirror.
On Tuesday, Mukherjee had recused himself from hearing the petition citing
personal reasons and said that the person had made an offer the previous day to expedite the case in his favour.
However, counsel for the developers, denied knowing the person whose name was printed on the visiting card.
“I verified with my client and he has denied it,“ Reuben Jacob, counsel for Umrah Developers, said on Thursday.
