Following the Supreme Court verdict convicting Sasikala, her niece Ilavarasi, nephew VN Sudhakaran and late CM Jayalalithaa in the Disproportionate Assets case, political reactions are flowing in from different quarters.

DMK Working President Stalin said, “This verdict shows that individuals in public life should not indulge in corruption. Governor must ensure that there is a stable government in TN.”

“I was expecting the conviction. I don't think she can escape the 4-year sentence,” said BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.

“I was fighting the case for 20 years. I knew we would get justice. The observation by Justice Roy that nation is in peril of corruption is important for me. I won't say anyone's political career is over, Sasikala is a smart woman,” he added.

Former Advocate General BV Acharya said, “Justice has been done. Judgement shows how strong & independent is our judiciary.”

This is a great success for Tamil Nadu people. It is a victory of truth and judicial system: Tamilian Prasanna of the DMK.

BJP leaders also reacted to the development.

H Raja said, “I profusely thank the Governor of Tamil Nadu for saving TN from another political crisis. Dharma has won.”

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, “SC verdict out today. Need of the hour is to enable an able and stable government in Tamil Nadu as per the wishes of the people of State.”

“After the Supreme Court verdict, I am sure Governor of Tamil Nadu will ensure a stable govt for State consistent with aspirations of people,” said IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Muralidhar Rao said, “Supreme court verdict of retaining trial court verdict and conviction of Sasikala for 4 years will have deep ramifications for TN politics.”

“MLAs should take prudent decision & act unitedly in prevailing situation,” said TN acting CM O Panneerselvam.

Meanwhile, an AIADMK official said, "Whenever Amma faced any trouble, she took it upon herself. Now, too, she did the same. Dharma will win. #Chinnamma."
