Joju George to make his Tamil debut in Karthik Subbaraj’s gangster flick

Malayalam actor Joju George was awarded a special mention in the recently announced 66th National Film Awards for his role in 'Joseph'.

The long-delayed Karthik Subbaraj’s gangster flick with Dhanush recently got a new lease of life as Y Not Studios, producers of films like Vikram Vedha, Game Over and Super Over, has come forward to take the reins of the project. Announced nearly a couple of years ago, the yet-untitled project will finally start rolling in August and it will be entirely shot in the United Kingdom.

Recently, the makers signed Aishwarya Lekshmi as the leading lady and she’s thrilled to be a part of this prestigious project. Now, Malayalam actor Joju George, who was awarded a special mention in the recently announced 66th National Film Awards for his role in Joseph, has been roped in for a pivotal role in the film. The actor himself confirmed the same in a recent interview to The Hindu

Last seen in the critically-acclaimed Malayalam film Virus, Joju George is awaiting the release of Porinju Mariam Jose directed by Joshy, which stars him in the lead alongside Nyla Usha and Chemban Vinod Jose. In the film, he is playing the character ‘Kattalan Porinju’. He will be seen next in Thomas Benjamin’s big-budget film Oru Rathri Oru Pakal.

The Dhanush-Karthik's yet-untitled film will have music by Santhosh Narayanan while Shreyaas Krishna will crank the camera. The rest of the cast will be officially announced in due course. Not long ago, Subbaraj had confirmed approaching Hollywood star Al Pacino for a crucial role in the film. As per the industry grapevine, the pre-production work was completed a long time ago but the project couldn’t take off as the makers couldn’t get Pacino’s dates when they approached him for the first time. Therefore, the project was put on the back-burner, and both Dhanush and Subbaraj moved on to their other commitments.
