The song turned out to be popular not only in Kerala but also across the country.

‘Entammede Jimikki Kammal’ was first posted on YouTube on 6 August 2017, and became the sensation of the year 2017, it may be recalled here. Shaan Rahman has composed the music of the song which was written by Anil Panachooran. The song was rendered by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Renjith Unni for the film, directed by Lal Jose. Velipadinte Pusthakam has Mohanlal playing the lead role of Professor Michael Idicula. Interestingly, he was seen in three different get-ups in the movie.

The film, a campus comedy, is about the college vice principal Michael Idicula nick-named as Dracula by the students and his unconventional teaching methods.

The video of ‘Jimikki Kammal’ that begins with students of a college dancing, and occasionally seems to be at loggerheads with each other, ends with Mohanlal riding slowly on a bicycle, long hair, beard and all. Appani Sarath who was noticed for his role in Angamaly Diaries, Arun Kurian of Aanandam fame and director and occasional actor Jude Anthany Joseph dance away in the song.

The widely popular Malayalam song also had several cover versions. It later got featured in Jyothika's recent release Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu. The official song rights were bought and the song was used at a crucial juncture featuring Jyothika and Lakshmi Manchu in the film directed by Radha Mohan.
